In this two-part workshop, participants will learn about orienteering as the map-and-compass sport through experience, by participating in activities at Franklin Park that utilize navigation skills important to orienteering, and using a standard ISSOM orienteering map. Then we will address how to create experiential curricula for children built around orienteering. We'll deconstruct orienteering to determine learning goals, explore orienteering curriculum and its curricular applications and introduce free software for course-making like Purple Pen.
