Create an orienteering program for your camp

Started Jan 13
500 US dollars
Henry Street

Service Description

Orienteering is a running sport in which competitors visit a sequence of checkpoints shown on a map. The maps show the topography and terrain features such as trails, cliffs, boulders and vegetation. Orienteering is great for kids, not only for outdoor physical activity and map skills, but also to build character traits like resilience, teamwork, and the ability to recognize and recover from mistakes. The goal of this practical online course is to build a complete orienteering program for your camp. Participating camp leaders will learn about the sport and a progression of skill-developing activities, tailor an orienteering program for their camp, create a staff training program, and build an equipment list. Participants will learn how to get an orienteering map made of their camp, how to create course maps for the various activities, and how to find resources to support a camp orienteering program.
